    Xander Cage (Diesel) is an extreme sports enthusiast with the nickname of xXx because of a large tattoo covering his back and neck. After finding himself in jail, the illustrated man is blackmailed...I mean, recruited by the government's National Security Agent Augustus Gibbons (Jackson) to help them go after some Russian bad guys dealing in biochemical weapons. Cage now has a chance to use his skills and his love for excitement as he is given his share of high-tech toys to play with. Just as he starts to enjoy the excitement of the mission, he finds himself caught up in the middle of the organization and falling for Yelena (Argento), one of the group's leaders. (Tricia Littrell)

    The only supplements are high-definition previews.

    The 2.40:1 MPEG-2-encoded Blu-ray Disc, image does not look very good most of the time, with soft details and noticeable edge enhancement. Even in close-up shots, the picture often barely looks as detailed as a good DVD. This loss of detail does vary over the life of the presentation, with some scenes actually looking pretty darn good. Otherwise, colors are vivid, fleshtones look accurate, and blacks look good. This wouldn't be my first choice when showing off Blu-ray Disc. (Danny Richelieu)

    The uncompressed 5.1-channel LPCM soundtrack can be fully enveloping and exciting, with an engulfing front soundstage and well-placed images in the surroundfield. The soundtrack can sound slightly subdued, and the dynamic range often sounds compressed. The soundtrack is exciting, although it doesn't quite give off the sense of awe that the best soundtracks do.
