WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Based upon the stage play by Ivan Menchell, a heartwaming comedy about a circle of lifelong friends who meet each week for support and companionship. The story progresses as each faces widowhood. While visiting their spouses’ graves, Ellen Burstyn and Danny Aiello meet and begin a tender courtship, to the concern of their other friends.

LaserDisc Picture:
The matted aspect ratio is 1.85:1. The transfer is generally excellent with natural flesh tones and color balance throughout. Contrast is also excellent.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack suffers from generally harsh and sibilant dialogue. Fidelity is not what it should have been given this is a modern day production. Without music the sound is generally mono. Surround presence is subtle and then only with music in the track.
