WSR Narrative Review |

Story Synopsis:
Hanks stars as Sam Baldwin, a saddened father who moves to Seattle after the death of his wife. With the help of his eager son, Sam finds himself and his troubles broadcast live on a radio call-in show. The show grants him national attention, especially from Annie Reed (Ryan), one special suitoress in Baltimore absolutely determined that she is the right one for him and vice-versa.
LaserDisc Picture:
The picture has an overall soft, film-like quality with excellent blacks and shadow detail in the darkest scenes. Fleshtone hues appear to be natural and the colors are solid. The picture has been matted to 1.85:1.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is undistinguished with the normal stereo spread and surround envelopment on the music and virtually all of the dialogue and effects in mono.
