WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
A visually stunning film of an unforgettable epic about a young, idealistic Jesuit priest who makes an arduous physical and spiritual journey into the ruggest 17th century Canadian wilderness inhopes of converting the Huron Indian tribes to Catholicism.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture quality of the 1.75:1 transfer is gorgeous with excellent color fidelity and not a trace of noise artifacts. The remarkable, softly-lit film-like images look absolutely natural and pleasing to the eye.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby Stereo® soundtrack, although well recorded, lacks the surround aggressiveness to envelop the listener with a greater sense of being there.
