WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Patrick Swayze stars as a disillusioned and disheartened young American doctor whose inner faith is restored through the friendship and trust of the people of an impoverished community in India in director Roland Joffe’s City Of Joy.

LaserDisc Picture:
The pristine digital video transfer is 1.85:1 and well framed. The picture has a warm, richly textured film-like quality with excellent color balance and accurate fleshtones.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
Ennio Morricone’s masterful and compelling Eastern-flavored score is delightful and carries the epic quality of the captivating cinematography well. The Dolby Surround® soundtrack is quite strong and portrays an excellent atmospheric soundscape with a good sense of dimensionality and discreteness.
