WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey is the story of three family pets, two dogs and a cat, who mistakenly believe when they are taken to their family friend’s spread in the High Sierras that they have been abandoned, and set off for home, hundreds of miles away. The story is told from the animals’ point of view with the “voices” of the animals brilliantly played by Michael J. Fox, Don Ameche, and Sally Field. It’s an unforgettable tale of love and devotion that is sure to become a classic. This is a truly heartwarming story that will bring a tear to the eye and a smile to the lips of any animal lover, regardless of age.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture on this disc is excellent with consistent color balance and flesh tone accuracy. The outdoor scenes look very natural and the scenic panoramas are wonderful. The matted aspect ratio is 1.85:1.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The sound is good but not what it could have been. Much of the sound is off-screen narration, but the mix sounds old fashioned and mono in the screen channels if not for the stereo mix on the music. Otherwise there is virtually no surround but for a rare surround effect here and there.
