WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Pure Country stars George Strait as country music superstar Dusty Chandler who gets fed-up with the glitz and glitter of huge arena performances and just walks away for a little back-to-down-home-basics. While on this brief hiatus from his career he refinds his musical roots and falls in love with a lovely rancher (Isabel Glasser). This charming story is filled with fine country music, played and sung by George Strait who in real life is a country music superstar.

LaserDisc Picture:
The matted aspect ratio is 1.85:1. The transfer suffers from poor and inconsistent color balance with reddish flesh tones, and video noise which is really bad in some scenes. The color is slightly better on side two but noise is still prominent.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
This is one of the early Dolby Stereo DigitalŪ releases. The sound is smooth and clean but slightly heavy on bass and the surround effects in the Dolby Pro LogicŪ mode are too subtle. In our Fosgate Model 3A 70mm Wide mode the surround presentation was transformed to stereo with well defined extended bass in the surrounds. This dramatically heightened the concert performances for an extremely enveloping sound bed experience.
