WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Robert Redford’s “A River Runs Through It” is based upon the autobiographical story by Norman Maclean. The majesty of the Montana wilderness and the strength of an American family has been beautifully captured in this deep emotional portrait of the West, which won the Oscar® for Best Cinematography. Craig Sheffer and Brad Pitt shine as the grown Maclean brothers raised by a stern, but loving Reverend father (Skerrit) and a soft-spoken, understanding mother (Blethyn).

LaserDisc Picture:
The film is matted at 1.85:1. The picture looks gorgeous without a trace of video artifacts. Flesh tones are accurate and the scene-to scene color fidelity is excellent.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby Surround® soundtrack is well recorded and enveloping, and effectively enhances the mood of the picture.
