WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
An old-fashioned story of love and passion set against the backdrop of World War 1 and Ireland’s revolution against the British. Academy Award performance for John Mills. Includes original trailer.Ryan’s Daughter is a beautiful film which tells an old fashioned story of love and passion set against the backdrop of World War I and Ireland’s revolution against the British. Filmed on the rugged west coast of Ireland, the sweeping panoramic Oscar®-winning photography of Freddie Young sets the epic scale associated with master director David Lean. John Mills’ wordless, eloquent performance as the crippled village simpleton won him the Academy Award® for Best Supporting Actor.

LaserDisc Picture:
The sharp, digitally mastered transfer is absolutely gorgeous. The natural color fidelity and balance depicts sweeping seacoast vistas that will captivate you visually. The transfer is from a new 35mm anamorphic interpositive from the original 65mm camera negative and is presented in its compositionally correct 2.35:1 Panavision® aspect ratio.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The visuals are complemented by a subdued Dolby Surround® soundtrack.
