The story is about a young woman who apparently kills her older, wealthy lover with an overdose of intense sex and cocaine. She is accused of murder and must stand trial. During the course of the trial she has a steamy affair with the lawyer (Willem Defoe) who defends her. The young seductress is played by Madonna. Joe Mantegna plays the prosecuting attorney.
