WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Based on the novel by Ira Levin, Sliver is a top-notch thriller punctuated with sexual intensity. The story is about a beautiful divorcee (Sharon Stone) who takes an apartment in one of the Big Apple’s chic and sleek “sliver” buildings. She soon is the target of two handsome suitors, a best-selling author (Tom Berenger) and a wealthy computer-software designer who also owns the building (William Baldwin).Suspenseful entanglements ensue as Stone’s character is drawn into the dark passions of a voyeur techno-world that blurs the boundaries between reality and fantasy.

LaserDisc Picture:
This is one gorgeous looking image with a soft film-like quality. The matted transfer has an aspect ratio of 2.10:1. Dark scenes have excellent shadow detail and contrast. Color fidelity is excellent with deep blacks and flesh tones that look exceptionally accurate. There is not a trace of artifacts to mar the picture quality.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The sound is good and well balanced with with a subtle surround envelopment. A more aggressive surround presence would have intensified the suspense however.
