WSR Narrative Review |
|
Story Synopsis:
One of the screen’s most memorable thrillers with a heart-pounding ending. Hepburn plays a recently blinded woman pursued by an evil Alan Arkin who thinks she is in possession of his ill-gotten money. Answers the question, “Why should a killer fear a blind girl?” The suspense ends up in a heart-pounding and frightening one-on-one confrontation which makes this movie one of the most memorable stage thrillers of the past.
LaserDisc Picture:
The transfer has an aspect ratio of 1.85:1. Picture quality is generally marred by a reddish cast that makes fleshtones appear distorted. Colors are somewhat faded as well and the dark scenes lack the vibrancy of sharp contrasts. The element appears to have been a print and some grain and artifacts are present.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The monophonic soundtrack has limited bandwidth and is noisy and slightly harsh. A stereo surround soundtrack would have been a more thrilling experience.
