WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Jam-packed with suspense and surprising twists, Whispers In The Dark is the story of a Manhattan psychiatrist (beautifully played by Annabella Sciorra) who begins to have recurring erotic nightmares after listening to the revealing descriptions of her patients’ sexual experiences. When one of them is murdered, the tension builds to a fever pitch. Can she believe her patients’ stories? Can she trust the cops investigating the murder? Can she trust her own shrink and mentor (Alan Alda)? And what about the new man in her life (Jamey Sheridan)? Is he the most gentle man she has ever met, or is he a vicious killer? This film will have you sitting on the edge of your seat! This exciting, suspense-filled murder mystery is definitely for adults only.

LaserDisc Picture:
Except for some slight variations in flesh tones from scene to scene, the 1.85:1 transfer looks great.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The sound on this disc is excellent. The Dolby Surround® effects are subtle but realistic as most scenes are interior dialogue only. A more aggressive surround envelopment would have heighten the tension.
