WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Stylish and provocative drama about a woman’s search for a new life. Julie (Binoche) is the sole survivor of a car wreck that has claimed the life of her husband and daughter. Devoured by shock, confusion and misery, she goes into seclusion, trying to rid herself of her memories, finally realizing that to move ahead she must first accept the pain of the past. In French with English subtitles.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture has been matted at 1.85:1. The look is natural, sharp and clean. Color fidelity is good with excellent blacks as well as shadow detail and fleshtones are accurately rendered. There are no artifacts to mar the solid appearance of this transfer.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack features extremely natural dialogue and spatial realism. It would be hard to fault the dialogue for its natural realism and intelligibility. Everything sounds natural and the music score and effects provide an aggressive envelopment.
