WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
This myster-thriller has evereything going for it: superb acting by Sutherland and Fonda (she won an Oscar), great script and direction. Sutherland is a private eye hunting a wayward husband in NYC who just happens to be a killer; Fonda plays a hooker who once had him as a client. Sutherland is at once both cool and collected and and warm and loving; Fonda is at once sexy-hot and cool; there’s no surprise then when he falls for her. The rest, however, is up for grabs.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture is presented in its Panavision® aspect ratio at 2.35:1. While a little dark overall, blacks are deep and the grain is almost unnoticeable in the dark scenes for a solid image with minor artifacts. The look is natural with fleshtones that appear naturally rendered throughout. The picture is filmlike and generally pleasing.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is poorly presented in undistinguished monaural. Dialogue has a nasty strident quality for an overall annoyingly harsh presentation. Dynamics are compressed and there is no bass extension.
