WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
The powerful and romantic Sugar Hill stars Wesley Snipes as Roemello Skuggs, a drug dealing king pin who, with his brother Raynathan (Michael Wright), must keep control of the streets they rule and the lucrative business they have built. Born and raised in Sugar Hill, as children they have witnessed their junkie Mother’s obsession and death by an overdose and now the pitiful figure of their Father who slips in and out of their lives. Roemello has begun to question his life and is looking for ways to get out before it’s too late, but he is constantly being dragged down by his unstable brother who is without hope of redemption. Director Leon Ichaso’s fascinating behind-the-scenes commentary for the film is presented on the analog track.
