WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Crooklyn is a warm-hearted Spike Lee Joint—a clever and affectionate story about an African American family growing up in a crazed and magical Brooklyn, New York neighborhood. Alfre Woodard stars as Carolyn, a fiery, loving and devoted independent mother who, with her devoted husband Woody (Delroy Lindo) struggles to raise her family during hard, but often wonderful times. This is a passionate film and a real tribute to the human condition.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture has been matted at 1.85:1 except for an over-extended creative segment in which Spike Lee experiments with anamorphic squeezed imagery to emotionalize the drama. This is an exemplary transfer that is sharp and detailed with vivid colors, excellent color fidelity, extremely natural fleshtones, excellent shadow detail, deep blacks, and no artifacts, grain or noise for a solid presentation.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack features a fantastic vintage R&B soundtrack with defined stereo separation and surround envelopment.
