WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Murder By Death is Neil Simon’s classic but missed comedy about an eccentric millionaire who challenges five of the world’s most famous detectives to solve a mystery. Millionaire Lionel Twain has invited the five detectives and their companions to his very strange and mysterious house where they have been promised an interesting and challenging weekend. The five detectives, Sam Diamond/Sam Spade (Peter Falk) Milo Perrier/Hercule Poirot (James Coco), Sidney Wang/ Charlie Chan (Peter Sellers), Dick Charleston/ Vick Charles (David Niven) and Jessica Marbles/Miss Marple (Elsa Lanchester), are all keen to test their wits against their host who offers a one million dollar reward for the one who solves the crime of the murdered blind butler (Alec Guiness). But soon the detectives discover that they are targets for the killer as well.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.85:1 picture is soft overall with in-consistent fleshtones and variations in scene quality. Grain, noise and artifacts are all ap-parent for a mediocre presentation.

The sound is undistinguished mono.
