Story Synopsis:
The Name Of The Rose, based on the novel by Italian literary great Umberto Eco, is an eerie tale of murder set in the medieval era amidst an isolated Northern Italian monetary. There two monks have been found brutally killed, the deaths being either the works of some evil spirit, or a vicious murderer from inside the holy community. When a Franciscan monk (Sean Connery) and his young student (Christian Slater) arrive to investigate the deaths, a labyrinth of bizarre events, mystery, and horror surface, while a secret library containing rare Ancient Greek books is discovered having a bizarre connection with the mysterious killings.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.85:1 matted transfer provides very sharp focus and detail with excellent contrast, natural fleshtones,deep blacks, and natural color density. Some mirror artifacts with grain and noise are apparent in the dark monetary scenes.
