WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
The Nightmare Before Christmas is an instant clay animation classic which spent years germinating in the creative mind of Tim Burton. Jack Skellington (voice of Danny Elfman), the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, is bored with the same old tricks and treats and yearns for something more than things that go bump in the night. After another stale Halloween celebration, while on a walk with his ghostly canine Zero, Jack stumbles upon the glorious magic of Christmas Town—and decides to bring this joyful holiday back to Halloween Town. But disaster in eminent and its up to Sally (voice of Catherine O’Hara), the ragdoll who loves him, to stitch things back together with Santa’s help.

LaserDisc Picture:
Picture quality is exceptional and exemplary of that attainable on laserdisc. The aspect ratio is 1.66:1. Colors are wonderfully vivid with incredibly deep and solid blacks. Images are detailed and sharp and every nuance in texture can be discerned. There are no artifacts or grain or noise. The picture is solid and one of the select. A visual triumph!

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack features an old fashioned musical score composed and conducted by Danny Elfman that soars with lyrical rapture and spatial envelopment.
