WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
The Running Man is the name of the most popular “audience participation” television game show in the year 2019. Convicted criminals can be pardoned by defeating the murderous “stalkers,” or die while the whole country watches on TV. The stalkers always win in a violent blood bath. Well, until they meet Arnold Schwarzenegger that is. With burned-out sections of a future Los Angeles as the backdrop, there is action, action and more action. Schwarzenegger fans will love their hero putting an end to the absurdities.

LaserDisc Picture:
The matted 1.85:1 presentation has an extreme smoke filtered stylized visual effect, but colors are vibrant and blacks are deep and solid. The overall look is nocturnal. Some minor noise is apparent in the darkest scenes.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby Surround® soundtrack produces effectively spatial, but subtle surround and directional effects that work well with the action. Fidelity is dated and but the overall impact is satisfying.
