WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
The Road To Wellville is a bold and outrageously hilarious film based on the novel by T. Coraghessan about Dr. John H. Kellogg, the food and scientific inventor, who in 1876 be-came the owner of and ran the famous health spa/hospital/grand hotel, the Battle Creek Sanitarium in Michigan, which was a destination of the rich and famous including such luminaries as Henry Ford, Theodore Roosevelt and John D. Rockefeller. Dr. Kellogg’s inventions were numerous and unique and in-cluded 75 different kinds of foods amongst them cornflakes (which his brother Will K. Kellogg marketed) and peanut butter.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.82:1 matted picture is sharp and de-tailed with virtually no artifacts. Fleshtones are accurate, blacks are deep and solid, and contrast and color fidelity are excellent.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack features a wonderfully entertaining music score that is beautifully recorded with a wide stereo stage. Surround envelopment is aggressive with a pleasant ambience and dialogue that sounds recorded in real spaces.
