WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Boys On The Side is a delightful comedy-drama about three unlikely travelling companions who develop a strong friendship. Whoopi Goldberg plays Jane, a singer from the New York nightclub scene who answers an ad placed by Robin (Parker) to share a cross-country ride. On the way, they pick up Jane’s pregnant friend Holly (Barrymore) but witness her junkie boyfriend slapping her around. She defends herself by hitting him with a baseball bat, they tie him up and drive off to Tucson having one touching moment after another.

LaserDisc Picture:
The Panavision® scope frame has been recomposed at 2.46:1. The picture has a natural look that is sharp and detailed. Shadow detail is excellent as is contrast. Blacks are deep and artifacts and noise is virtually absent.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack has an occasional subtle surround effect but otherwise mono.
