WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Neeson plays Dr. Peyton Westlake, a researcher on the verge of realizing a major breakthrough in synthetic skin. Westlake’s laboratory is destroyed by a sadistic gang leader, Robert G. Durant (Drake). He becomes Darkman and begins to assume alternate identities, torn between his lust for revenge and his desire for a new life with his former girlfriend, Julie (McDormand). In the end, he rigs a deadly helicopter crash with Durant as his victim.

LaserDisc Picture:
The matted 1.85:1 picture is extremely sharp and detailed. Fleshtones are accurate and color fidelity and contrast are excellent. Blacks are deep and solid and shadow detail is superb. Some artifacts are apparent in some scenes, but nothing that detracts from an otherwise perfect picture.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby Surround® soundtrack has wonderfully aggressive surround envelopment provided by excellent sound effects and a consistent subtle ambience provided by the music score. Dialogue is natural and well integrated and bass extension is deep.
