WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Immortal Beloved is Bernard Rose’s fascinating attempt to solve the mystery of Ludwig van Beethoven’s greatest love. The film divulges Beethoven’s dark past and hidden passion as well as the genius of his thrilling and beautiful music.

LaserDisc Picture:
The perfectly framed 2.35:1 scope picture is exemplary in sharpness, color fidelity, contrast, shadow detail, and black level. The exquisite image detail reveals subtle textures, even the presence of scenic matte paintings and makeup, and the colors are gorgeously rich and vibrant. Perfectly natural visually, there does not appear to be artifacts, nor distracting grain or noise. Sony has produced an exemplary achievement with their HD process.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
Immortal Beloved was released theatrically exclusively in SDDS Digital and the Dolby Surround® soundtrack is superb. It is fully aggressive in the surrounds in some scenes and dynamic throughout with thunderous bass extension, even in the surrounds. The music score is consistently expansive and enveloping which enhances ambience and spatiality.
