WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Wynton Marsalis: The London Concert is a exquisite concert of classical selections featuring the trumpet virtuoso with the English Chamber Orchestra recorded by Charles Harbutt. The program features Joseph Haydn’s “Concerto For Trumpet and Orchestra,” Johann Nepomuk Hummel’s “Concerto For Trumpet and Orchestra In E Minor,” and Leopold Mozart’s “Concerto For Trumpet and Orchestra In D Major.”

LaserDisc Picture:
The video was produced in the HDVS high definition format by Sony Classical Film and Video. The aspect ratio is 1.78:1 (16:9). The picture is sharp and detailed with natural fleshtones, deep solid blacks, good shadow detail, and no noise, or artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The recording was mixed by Bill Schnee and is absolutely stunning in fidelity, dynamics, clarity and soundstage presence, especially when we played the disc in the Six-Axis mode of our Citation 7.0. (Please, no movie EQ on this soundtrack). In that mode the event becomes a “you are there” three-dimensional concert experience with the natural ambience of the reflected sound in the church recreated in the stereo surrounds.
