WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Red is the final chapter in director Krysztof Kieslowski’s acclaimed “Three Colors” trilogy. Blue and White are the other two. It garnered Academy Award® nominations in 1994 for Best Director, Best Original Screenplay (Krzysztof Piesiewicz and Krzysztof Kieslowski) and Best Cinematography (Piotr Sobocinski). This is a seductive story about a beautiful young Swiss model (Irene Jacob) whose chance meeting with an unusual and mysterious stranger exposes her to his world of eavesdropping on neighbors’ intimate phone conversations. She encounters some astonishing coincidences between his past and her destiny. Chastising him, he responds by turning himself in, setting off a chain of events that causes many to find new loves and risk death by chance.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture has been matted at 1.85:1. Images are sharp and detailed for a clean natural appearance. Fleshtones are natural and colors are vividly rendered. There appears to be some slight noise in the darker scenes buy no artifacts for a pleasing picture.
