WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
The year before the Apollo 13 flight, Marooned was nominated for three Academy Awards®. Based on the novel by Martin Caidin, the story is about a marooned spacecraft with three astronauts aboard, and a life threatening decision—launch a rescue attempt in the midst of a hurricane or let the astronauts die from lack of oxygen.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture is framed at 1.92:1 using ap-parently a theatrical print as the source element. Overall there is good detail with natural fleshtones, but the look is dated. Blacks are deep and solid, and there are no marring artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is a poor excuse for stereo with the case being undistinguished mono. Originally it was released in both four-track and six-track stereo mag versions, and was 134 minutes in its roadshow version. The film was reduced to 70 minutes when it was edited for TV and re-titled Space Travelers.
