WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Albert Finney gives a striking performance as old man Ebeneezer Scrooge in this classic Scrooge Christmas tale based on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. The role won him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in 1970. The storybook tale of an old stingy banker who has no spirit of any kind save being a miser and bringing grief upon others. When the holiday season approaches, however, Ebeneezer Scrooge will have a change of heart when he is visited by The Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future on the eve of Christmas itself. With their guidance Ebeneezer takes a heartwarming journey that teaches him to say “Merry Christmas.”

LaserDisc Picture:
The Panavision® picture is framed at 2.32:1 and is generally pleasing. Images are soft overall but natural in appearance. Apparent noise is exhibited in the darker scenes.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack features a wonderful en-veloping stereo music score, but dialogue level is out of balance with the other elements.
