WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
With Honors is a touching comedy of life both in and around the campus of Harvard University. Senior scholarship student Monty Kessler (Brendan Fraser) is determined to graduate with honors and spends all his time hard at work on his thesis. But fate intervenes and his written pages find their way into the hands of Simon Wilder (Joe Pesci), a homeless but well read man who lives in the library basement, enjoying the warmth and literary opportunities the library has to offer. Monty, who desperately needs his thesis back turns Simon in, but Simon conditions its return on the basis of food and a place to stay, and then one page at a time for one favor at a time. The encounter forces Monty and his room-mates to reevaluate their lives and learn the lessons of life that Simon has mastered.
