WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Flirting With Disaster is a sexy comedy starring Ben Stiller as Mel Coplin. Desperate to find his biological parents, he embarks on a documented cross-country trip with his wife, Nancy (Patricia Arquette), and Tina (Téa Leoni), a seductive adoption counselor who is not very good at her job. When Nancy’s eyes are opened to Mel’s physical attraction for Tina, she begins a flirtation of her own amidst outrageously unpredictable situations and several presumed birth parents.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture exhibits bright and oversaturated images with a yellow overtone resulting in unnatural fleshtones and deep undefined blacks. Shadow detail is poor and undefined. Noise and artifacts are apparent throughout. The aspect ratio is 1.85:1.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Digital soundtrack is mediocre with inconsistent, in-your-face dialogue and virtually no spatial integration, while at other times sounding nicely produced. The music score is sometimes well recorded with limited, subtle surround envelopment.
