WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Robin Williams stars as a mischevious 10 year-old in the hilarious and heartwarming comedy Jack. Just like any other boy his age, Jack loves chocolate pudding, riding bikes and playing basketball—but, because of a strange genetic condition, is aging four times faster than his peers. When his tutor, Mr. Woodruff (Bill Cosby), recommends to Jack’s parents (Brian Kerwin and Diane Lane) that they let him go to school, it doesn’t take long before the giant fifth grader is accepted and exploring the ups and downs of life from a kid’s point-of-view. Jack is a wonderful comedy for almost any age!

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.85:1 picture exhibits excellent color fidelity with natural fleshtones and deep solid blacks. Images are sharp and detailed with excellent shadow detail. Slight noise and artifacts are apparent.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is rather conventional in character. Strangely, the music score on the Dolby® Digital 5.1 discrete version is limited to a two-channel stereo mix with no surround presence, while the PCM matrix treatment of the score nicely develops subtle surround envelopment. Dialogue is often ADR-produced and unnatural sounding.
