WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Based on an original story by Peter Bryan, The Plague Of The Zombies is an eerie Hammer Horror film, with an unsettling score by James Bernard and horrifically life-like make-up effects by Roy Ashton. When Sir James Forbes (Andre Morell) comes to the assistance of his desperate friend, Dr. Peter Thompson (Brook Williams), he is confounded by a strange disease reaching epidemic proportions in the quiet English town. In their investigation for the truth, Thompson and Forbes are shocked to learn the ghastly secret behind the town’s Squire Clive Hamilton (John Carson).

LaserDisc Picture:
Matted at 1.82:1, the picture often looks unnatural and dated with brownish colors, fleshtones and weak brown-blacks. Images are generally sharp and detailed with poor, murky shadow detail. Slight noise and artifacts are apparent throughout.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is undistinguished monaural that sounds compressed with distorted dialogue.
