WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Based on C.S. Forester’s novel “The Gun,” The Pride And The Passion tells the story that begins after Napoleon’s invasion of Spain in the 19th Century. When British Navy Captain Anthony Trumbull (Cary Grant) locates what was the largest cannon in the world, his orders are to repair it and use it against Napolean. But a group of guerrillas, led by Miguel (Frank Sinatra), had different plans for the cannon—transport it 1,000 kilometers to counterattack at the French headquarters in Avila. Sophia Loren costars, adding romance as the beautiful Juana, who wins the affections of both Trumbull and Miguel.
