WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Unassociated with the writings of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle but based on the characters he created, Young Sherlock Holmes is the splendid tale of the legendary detective and his sidekick, Watson—who meet when they are schoolboys. With John Watson (Alan Cox) at his side, along with his first and only love (Sophie Ward), Holmes (Nicholas Rowe) solves his first mystery—one that involves a series of bizarre murders and nightmarish hallucinations. So, grab your pipe and magnifying glass, the game is afoot!

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, matted at 1.82:1 exhibits excellent color fidelity with natural fleshtones, rich and warm colors and deep solid blacks. Images are sharp and detailed with superb shadow detail. Noise and artifacts are apparent throughout, some scenes more than others.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The linear PCM Dolby® Surround soundtrack is excellent with superb fidelity and soundfield definition. The music score is nicely recorded with a soundfield that images well. Foley effects are superb and dialogue is natural and spatially integrated. Surround is mostly subtle with excellent presence.
