WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Based upon factual material from “Patton: Ordeal And Triumph,” by Ladislas Farago and “A Soldier’s Story,” by Omar N. Bradley, Patton is the critically acclamied, seven-time Academy Award®-winning American war film about the exxentric, brilliant General George S. Patton (Scott in his Best Actor-winning role).

LaserDisc Picture:
The D-150® picture is framed at 2.32:1, exhibiting sometimes washed out color fidelity with orangish fleshtones. Images are wanting in sharpness and detail. Artifacts and the slightest noise is apparent throughout.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Digital discrete soundtrack has a slightly better spatial quality when compared to the linear PCM version. The difference is especially apparent in the frontal soundstage imaging of the music score and sound effects which are spread wide, as in the original 70mm 6-track presentation. The overall sound is dated, but is an interesting study in sound design.
