WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Based on the novel by Jack Finney, Invasion Of The Body Snatchers is a remake of Don Siegel’s 1956 science fiction masterpiece. Spores from outer space fall and take root in San Francisco, producing beautiful flowers. But these extraterrestrial plants take over peoples bodies and slowly clone their victims and dispose of the remains. But if everything looks “human,” can real humans go undetected and escape to warn others?

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture’s 1.85:1 source element ap-pears to be from a print. Shadow detail is poor, artifacts are noticeable and grain and noise appear in e dark scenes. Color fidelity is poor and fleshtones are inconsistent.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
While the sound is dated and is wanting in fidelity and dynamics, it is effective. The soundtrack has an aggressive surround that envelops the viewer with effects. Dialogue has a dimensional presence, not often achieved with the post ADR process.
