WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Gone Fishin’ is the charming comedy about two buddies—Joe (Joe Pesci) and Gus (Danny Glover)—who, since their trouble-making youths, eagerly anticipate routine fishing trips together. For their Florida fishing trip, a series of mishaps leave Joe and Gus destroying everything in their wake. First, they lose their car to a slick con man (Nick Brimble) and while pushing their boat to the Everglades are picked up by two beautiful young women (Rosanna Arquette and Lynn Whitfield). When Joe and Gus finally steal their car back, they learn the horrible truth about the con man and must gather their wits to aid in his arrest. Willie Nelson costars.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.85:1 picture is pleasing with natural fleshtones, vibrant colors and deep blacks. Images are sharp and detailed with excellent shadow detail. While there is minor noise, there are no artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The discrete Dolby® Digital 5.1 soundtrack is nicely presented with subtle, but effective split surround envelopment. The music score is nicely recorded with excellent soundstage imaging. Dialogue is often natural sounding, but mostly ADR-produced and wanting in spatial integration.
