Story Synopsis:
The Quest is an imaginative, martial arts action adventure set in a time where men with big dreams still embarked on impossible quests. Jean-Claude Van Damme stars as Chris Dubois, an idealistic street criminal who sets out on an odyssey of self discovery that spans from the slums of 1920s New York to the Lost City of Tibet. Chris’ journey ultimately takes him to the fabled Ghan-gheng competition. Here, the deadliest fighters from around the world employ the most spectacular feats of martial arts to win the prized Golden Dragon.
LaserDisc Picture:
The exemplary picture, framed at 2.35:1, is the same transfer as reviewed in Issue 22. Colors are vivid with deep blacks and natural fleshtones. There is no apparent noise or artifacts in this sharp and detailed picture.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The DTS® Digital Surround 5.1 discrete soundtrack is a dramatic improvement over the PCM matrix soundtrack reviewed in Issue 22. The sound is more discrete with a wider and deeper soundstage image. Surround envelopment is aggressive with split surround delineation. Intense bass energy further heightens the experience.
