WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Academy Award® winner Mira Sorvino (Best Supporting Actress, Mighty Aphrodite) teams up with television’s Friends star Lisa Kudrow in the hilarious comedy Romy And Michele’s High School Reunion. When their 10-year high school reunion approaches, Romy (Sorvino) and Michele (Kudrow)—a car dealership clerk and an unemployed fashion designer—reinvent themselves as the creators of Post-It™ Notes. But when Heather (Janeane Garofalo), a chain-smoking, constantly cursing former classmate, blabs their real story, Romy and Michele let loose another surprise to get back at all their cruel peers—showing them who Romy and Michele really are. This is a lighthearted and fun comedy with a great soundtrack that will surely take its viewers back to high school in the 1980s.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, matted at 1.82:1, is fabulous with excellent color fidelity, pure and brilliant colors and deep, solid blacks. Fleshtones are naturally rendered throughout. Images are sharp and detailed and shadow detail is excellent. Dance club scenes and the high school reunion exhibit exemplary shadow detail and contrast. There is no apparent noise or artifacts for a solid picture that is a visually appealing experience throughout.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack features lots of ‘80s music that is nicely recorded and presented. The Dolby® Digital discrete 5.1 soundtrack is often wonderfully spatial, as is the PCM matrix Dolby Surround soundtrack, but with a wider soundstage presence that is better resolved. Surround effects are sometimes discrete and effectively enveloping. Dialogue is naturally presented with excellent intelligibility and spatial integration. The discrete version is preferred for its clarity and spatial openness. Overall, both are effective soundtracks that are sure to please.
