WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
That Darn Cat is a remake of the 1965 Disney comedy starring Haley Mills. Christina Ricci stars as 16 year-old Patti Randall, whose boredom with her sleepy hometown awakens when her tomcat D.C. (Darn Cat) delivers an important clue in a mysterious kidnapping. With novice F.B.I. Agent Kelso (Doug E. Doug) at her side, Patti must track D.C. through all his favorite hang-outs, hoping to solve the mystery. The would-be detectives are led into hilarious entanglements and outrageous misunderstandings.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, matted at 1.85:1, exhibits vivid color fideity with natural fleshtones and deep, solid blacks. Images are sharp and detailed with good shadow detail and contrast. Sometimes colors look a bit oversaturated and undefined in the darker scenes. There is no detected noise or artifacts for an experience that is sure to please.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack has a wonderfully recorded music score with excellent soundstage imaging. The Dolby® Digital 5.1 discrete soundtrack is wanting in split surround effect delivery and is similar to the PCM matrix with mono surround envelopment.
