WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Nominated for an Academy Award® for Best Picture, The Full Monty is a uproarious comedy about six unemployed men who scheme to make some quick money. What they lack in physique, they make up for in determination when they decide to shed their clothes, or go the full monty, ą la the Chippendale dancers.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, matted at 1.85:1, exhibits good exterior color fidelity with natural fleshtones, rich and warm colors and deep solid blacks. Colors sometimes seem a bit oversaturated and dark in interior scenes. Images are generally sharp and detailed with mediocre shadow detail and contrast. Slight noise is apparent, but there are virtually no artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Digital 5.1 and PCM matrix soundtracks get mixed reviews. While the discrete is preferred, the matrix often outperforms the Dolby Digital with subtle surround envelopment. The discrete defines the soundstage with a wider and deeper bass presence. Overall, the sound is rather conventional with generally natural sounding dialogue, though at times is ADR-manufactured. The music is nicely presented, but is the element that most varies between the two formats.
