WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Suggested by Ann Piper’s novel and dedicated to opera lovers and romantics everywhere, Yes, Giorgio features real life opera superstar Luciano Pavarotti as Giorgio Fini, an Italian opera superstar on a United States tour in this romantic musical comedy. During a rehearsal, Giorgio shocks himself and his manager (Eddie Albert) when he is stricken with a sudden “crisis of the voice” then falls for his throat specialist, Dr. Pamela Taylor (Kathryn Harrold). Combining comedy, music and romance, Yes, Giorgio features the tenor’s delightful versions of “If We Were In Love,” “O Sole Mio” and “Ave Maria.” The original theatrical trailer is included. Bravo, Pavarotti!

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, framed at 1.95:1, looks slightly dated, but exhibits fully saturated colors and deep blacks. Images are generally sharp and detailed, though sometimes wanting in definition Contrast is good, while shadow detail is mediocre. Slight noise and minor artifacts are apparent.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is unfortunately undistinguished monaural that sounds strident and distorted.
