WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Annie Hall is Woody Allen’s Academy Award®-winning, bittersweet comedy from 1977 that explores the effects of being famous, the differences between New York and Los Angeles and the ups-and-downs of personal relationships. Woody plays Alvy Singer, a neurotic writer who develops an on-again, off-again relationship with the quirky Annie Hall (Diane Keaton in an Oscar®-winning role). Humorous and clever use of cinematic techniques such as flashbacks, direct-address, subtitles... and even animation, can be seen throughout as Alvy tries desperately to make some sense out of his relationship with Annie.
