WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
The four stories presented in From Beyond The Grave all begin with a trip to Temptations, Ltd., an odd little antique shoppe run by an unusual man (Peter Cushing). For those who attempt to cheat him in any way, he offers a ”big novelty surprise with every purchase,” meaning they will soon be met with a terrifying and grisly experience. Take Reggie Warren (Ian Carmichael), who switches price tags on a silver snuff box. He soon finds himself the host of a vicious supernatural creature. He enlists the help of the quirky Madame Orloff (Margaret Leighton) who tries to exorcise it from its perch on Reggie’s shoulder.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, slightly overmatted at 1.95:1, appears dated, with inconsistently rendered color fidelity. Sometimes colors appear generally natural and richly hued, with deep, solid blacks. Other times, colors appear slightly oversaturated. Images are generally sharp and detailed, with good contrast and mediocre shadow delineation. The picture is generally solid, with only slight noise and minor artifacts. While dated, the picture will surely please horror fans.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is undistinguished monaural that sounds compressed and at times distorted.
