WSR Narrative Review |
|
Story Synopsis:
The End Of Violence tells the intricate and perplexing story of two men—Mike Max (Bill Pullman), an action film producer and a mysterious surveillance expert named Ray (Gabriel Byrne). When Max comes into possession of extensive details concerning a top secret, anti-crime observation system, he is kidnapped and confronted with violence beyond his deadliest fictional creations. The theatrical trailer is included.
LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, framed at 2.35:1, is sharp and detailed with excellent texture rendering and clarity. Colors are fully saturated and natural, but occasionally appear slightly plugged-up in the darker interior scenes. Contrast and shadow delineation are nicely rendered. There are no distracting artifacts for an overall pleasing picture.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Surround soundtrack is nicely atmospheric with a constant subtle surround presence that is sometimes aggressively activated. The music score is nicely presented and engaging. Dialogue generally sounds natural and integrated spatially. This is generally a quiet soundtrack that is nicely produced but mediocre overall.
