WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Barney’s Great Adventure—The Movie is a dino-mite family film that features every child’s favorite purple dinosaur in his very own full-length movie. A trip to Grandma and Granpa’s farm turns into an incredible, fun-filled journey when the kids find Barney in the barn.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, matted at 1.85:1, exhibits vivid, sometimes oversaturated colors with natural fleshtones and deep solid blacks, but fidelity is somewhat subdued under a dark cast. Images are generally sharp and detailed, but background noise is sometimes distracting. Contrast and shadow delineation are nicely rendered throughout and there doesn’t appear to be any artifacts. Still, because of the bright colors, this movie will surely please the only audience that will watch it—young children.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Surround soundtrack is largely monaural focused with little stereo dimensionality, except for the music score. Dialogue sounds forward and ADR-produced. The music score is nicely recorded with tunes that are sure to please young children who will want to hear them repeatedly. So while the soundtrack is mediocre the mood is happy.
