WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Lost In Space is an interplanetary travel adventure based on the original series created by Irwin Allen. Chosen as the perfect candidates for space colonization are the Robinson family (William Hurt, Mimi Rogers, Heather Graham, Lacey Chabert and Jack Johnson), but their mission is sabotaged by a reluctant stowaway (Gary Oldman)—leaving them lost in space.

LaserDisc Picture:
While falling short of the picture resolution on the dual-layered, anamorphically enhanced DVD reviewed in Issue 29, the 2.30:1 DTS® LaserDisc exhibits the same pleasing transfer as the Dolby® Digital LaserDisc comparatively reviewed with the DVD.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The DTS® Digital Surround soundtrack sounds more spatially dimensional with clearly pronounced split surrounds and better coherent holosonic soundfield imaging along the sides and rear. Even dynamics are more pronounced with bass extension reaching below 25Hz even in the surrounds and the .1 LFE channel. The music score wraps smoothly into the surrounds. Surrounds create a thrilling dimensional experience. Dialogue, on all the soundtracks, is extensively ADR-sounding though at times spatially integrated.
