WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Live Flesh is a steamy, seductive tale of guilt and revenge based on the novel by Ruth Rendell. Through an unfortunate chain of events, Victor (Liberto Rabal) serves six years in prison for shooting a police officer (Javier Bardem). During his incarceration, he concocts an involved plan to exact revenge on the woman who rejected him and the police officer who hid the truth about the shooting. Includes theatrical trailer.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, framed at 2.30:1, is slightly oversaturated and plugged up with unnaturally yellowish-orange hues and deep undefined blacks. Images are generally sharp, but are often hazy and lack fine detail and definition. Contrast and shadow delineation are mediocre and wanting in greater resolution in the darkest scenes. Noise and minor artifacts are apparent throughout. Subtitles cannot be read on widescreen displays.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Surround matrix soundtrack is satisfying. The music is at times superb and very well recorded. The soundstage image is wide and deep and wraps into the surround channel. Dialogue generally sounds natural, though often wanting in spatial integration. Surround envelopment is at times aggressive but mostly effectively subtle.
