WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Based on the characters from the immensely popular graphic novels Buronson and Tetsuo Hara, Fist Of The North Star tells the tale of a legendary freedom fighter who battles against the forces of evil. Kenshiro (Gary Daniels), a superhuman warrior lost in the chaotic wastelands of the future is led by the spirit of his father (Malcolm McDowell) to free his stolen love (Isako Washio) from the brutal tyrant and Master Of Southern Cross, Lord Shin (Costas Mandylor). Through his struggle, he must confront his destiny as Fist Of The North Star, a title his father passed on to him through fate.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, matted at 1.85:1, is darkly rendered throughout, but exhibits generally good color fidelity with natural fleshtones. Images are mostly sharp and detailed with good shadow detail. Slight noise, grain and minor artifacts are apparent throughout.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is nicely presented with excellent spatial character due to both an effective surround presence and effective low frequency effects. Dialogue sounds natural with excellent spatial integration. The music score is dynamic throughout.
